Good Day!
I am currently in the process of setting up a new home server, I am not entirely in agreement with the hardware selection.
At the time I was a Synology DS214 +, which is equipped with 2 WD RED 4TB. The disks are both currently running as a data storage and are not mirrored. The disk is currently used as 80% Plex Mediaserver, 10% music streaming and another 10% data collection. A few months ago I start to digitize my Blu-Ray collection, currently I have arround 500 movies on the NAS-Server and I tend to run out of space. In other words, the two 4TB HDDs are completely full and needs to expand or replaced.
However I plan to build a small home server.
Must Haves:
Minimum 6 S-ATA interfaces, enough power to transcode everythink.
My idea:
How do you find the setup? Do you have any improvements? Especially with the CPU and the hard drives, I'm not sure. The two WD Red will be moved to the new server. Software is to be used either Windows Server or FreeNAS. But I prefer Windows simply better.
Many thanks to all who look at the whole and express their opinion!
