Thinclient with AMD Sempron 2100+ (1GHz) as software RAID5 via MDADM in TinyCore Linux?

Is that enough for pure data storage? I don't need more than about 50MB/s. 4 disks a 2TB are used.

Who has experience with CPU requirements for software RAID?


I know that this is definitely not a fast solution, but is it even possible to "use" something like this?


I can't test how it works at the moment - it will take 1-2 weeks until I have the time. Therefore a short feedback would be very much appreciated.

I have about 3 servers at Hetzner Online. I would like to cancel them, but before I do so I want to back up the data, especially the MySQL data (if necessary only the .MYD raw files). Hetzner may have to connect the LARA console to get direct access to the servers.  Therefore I am looking for someone who knows how to pay and has some experience. I can't do that myself. On the servers nginx, PHP, MySQL etc. is installed. Probably it doesn't have to be a superprofessional, my primary concern is to get access, to navigate around in the corresponding directories in order to be able to download the corresponding files or directories.

A geographical proximity (Stuttgart) would be fine for me. I'd like to be able to look over my shoulders so that I can see which files or directories are needed. Should anyone have any tips on how to find such a person quickly and easily, I would also be happy to hear from them!

I rented a V-Server from Strato.de, the OS is Windows Server 2016 Standard Edition 64bit. I would like to use it for a Twitch Bot, but I do not like to admit it, because I have port permissions. I somehow lost the overview. I want to share inbound TCP ports 25000-25005 for my own IP and outbound everything for everything.

have a VPS at Strato that I can't access right now. I would like to save the data from the server.  Therefore I started the rescue system. This is an old Windows 7 32 bit.  The mounted local resources (mounted via RDP) don't let them address. Also I can't upload files via Filedropper e.g., the does not allow IE, although I have lowered the security level and added Filedropper as trusted page. Also you can't install Firefox or chrome, because there is no 64 bit system. Strato doesn't feel responsible, although it's the rescue system and not the VPS. How can I get my data with this (useless) rescue system ?

I'm new in the forum. Now I wanted to learn some server technology for professional reasons. I bought a used HP ProLiant ML350 G6 and am about to equip it.

So far I have installed six SAS disks in three logical drives (RAID 5 for the system disks).

The device has 64 GByte memory and two Xeon X5670. I installed OpenSuse Leap 42.3 and wanted to configure Xen virtualization.

I wanted to install a Quadro FX1800, but the ProLiant is bitching with it. It doesn't boot with this card anymore. Does anyone have experience with other graphics cards in a ProLiant?

I have a very old firmware in the Array Controller P410i. Does anyone have any experience with the upgrade ? Is that safe ? I didn't want to lose my logical drives.

I also noticed that I can't download a new BIOS. HPE wants a support contract. Strange

I had an old Ryzen 3 1200 Pc standing around here and thought I'd put some Proxmox (LXC) on it to learn in different districts, etc. Acquire more knowledge etc.

So far no problem. Create CT, assign IP etc.
Via VNC I can access it. 

If I want to try Putty, I get to the login. I can specify user root but he does not accept the password. 

What could be the reason for this?

Today I installed mariadb, Apache, php, phpmyadmin etc. on my Vserver.

However, when installing (+ reinstalling) mariadb did not ask me for a password. If I want to log in to Mariadb with the root user the following error message appears:

I have a Ubuntu 16.04 server running with Plesk Onyx. I have the problem, if I create a subdomain of my main domain, I always get the error (DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN). No matter what I can do or need to set. I have already checked the DNS templates but without resolving this problem
